I just finished Deathly Hallows

Wow wow wow wow wow.

I'm sure there will be hipper, smarter people than I who will have gripes and complaints.

I have none.

Masterful. And I want to talk about it with someone who has studied theology.

But my husband and mother-in-law have been overwhelmingly loving today, allowing me to just read the book through start to finish. And now, I need to get dressed for The Husband's 20th class reunion.

Accio hairbrush!

Jealous! I haven't opened the box from Amazon yet - have to slog through two final pieces for CPE first. I'm sure I'll also want to talk about it theologically in a few days...
Have fun at the reunion!

(SPOILER WARNING -- DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T FINISHED IT YET!)

I finished it on Sunday.

I'm only an amateur dilettante in theology, if even that, never having been a formal student, but I see in Harry a Unitarian Christ figure as William Ellery Channing would have apprehended Christ -- human, not divine; favored by grace but justified by a process of self-culture; redeeming not only himself but also the whole world through willing self-sacrifice; never condemning, always offering redemption, even toward Crabbe, Goyle, Malfoy and finally Voldemorthimself; and ultimately proving and personifying the power of love to triumph over death.

If we only had the Resurrection Stone, we could summon Channing and James Freeman Clarke to get their thoughts. I think they'd be mightily pleased. (Alas, I also think Harry was right to let the stone remain lost.)

Accio trained theologian!

Finished it late last night. You know my email address, LE, when you've gotten some sleep & want to discuss theology with a half-baked, er.. half-trained theologian!
