Any modern UU's gone door-to-door?

I was already thinking about UU evangelism and the article about Quillen Shinn reminded me of a question:

Have any modern UU's -- minister or lay -- gone door to door, inviting people to church? I mean, literally door to door. Going around a neighborhood, introducing yourself and saying, Hey, I just wanted to let you know that we're in the neighborhood and I wanted to invite you to visit us.

Curious minds want to know.

I never did. But I made a point not to be shy about what I believed and to take the time to properly articulate what I believed to others.

I believe that members of the then-new Epiphany Community Church in Fenton, MI did in their early years. I'm not sure whether they feel it was a successful effort, though.

My buddy Morris Hudgins did it when he served as interim two years ago. We had a one-man-play come to the church. He went door-to-door in the neighborhood introducing himself and giving away tickets. He received very positive response. Moral of the story: Go bearing gifts.
