Another Christmas gripe ...

When people say "Donner" rather than "Donder." But I'm not the only one.

LE ... who needs to get back to work on her Christian Ethics term paper, "The Ethical Balance in Ministering to the Difficult Person." Not that I'm a difficult person. Unless you say Donder. Or sing the modern version of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas."

How about singing sleigh as a two syllable word? The music is not written that way.

Going down an octave instead of singing the high note in O Holy Night just tells everyone that you have a limited vocal range.

Is there a law that instrumental groups that employ both electric and acoustic instruments can only perform God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, We Three Kings or Carol of the Bells? I'm talking about you, Manheim Steamroller and Trans-Siberian Orchestra and your clones.

Inaccurate... yes. But not inappropriate, etymologically speaking.

Donder--Thonar (there's a noisy, hammer-wielding god in there...)
